RTO's ‘Salute to Broadway’ opens July 19-20, 26-27 at WhistleStop Theater in Mammoth Spring
Repertory Theater of the Ozarks (RTO) presents its summer musical revue “Salute to Broadway” featuring songs from a broad range of musicals including “Great American Trailer Park Musical,” “Rent,” “Hairspray” and “Sweeney Todd.”
“Salute to Broadway” will be held Saturdays and Sundays opening July19-20 and 26-27. Saturday shows start at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday Shows start at 2 p.m. at WhistleStop Theater on Hwy. 63 South in Mammoth Spring, Ark.
“Salute to Broadway” has been in production since June and features members of the resident company and several newcomers. Starring in “Salute” are singers and dancers Janie Crews of Springfield, Mo. (formerly of Alton), J.R. Briggs of Pocahontas, Ark. Barbara Horne of Ravenden, Ark;. Felicia Jennings of South Myrtle, Ark., Stanis Vanous, of South Myrtle, Ark., Lacy Cozort of Thayer, Mo., Allison Carter of Thayer, Mo., Xander Farris of Thayer, Mo., Howard Elliott of South Myrtle, Ark., and new to the RTO stage are Warren Apel of Thayer, Mo. and Danielle Garrett of Pocahontas, Ark.
This fast paced musical revue shows the RTO company off in solo, duet and full company songs from Broadway hits over the years. Some of your favorite hit show tunes will be featured including songs from “Chicago,” “Grease,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Cats,” “The Rocky Horror Show,” and “Mama Mia.”
If you've never seen a Broadway show, this is a great introduction to musical theater. This is light, bright revue that now and then dips down to the serious side.
Tickets are $6.00 in advance for adults and $5.00 for students . At the door tickets are $8.00 and $6.00.

RTO is a non-profit regional community theater based in Mammoth Spring, Ark. Founded in 2003, RTO opened with “Cat on A Hot Tin Roof” and has presented such productions as “My Three Angels,” “Seven Year Itch,” “The Odd Couple,” and “Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Also presented have been “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Little Women” and “The Christmas Carol.”
RTO’s first musical was presented in ’05 and was “Hank Williams: Lost Highway.” Since then we have produced the musicals “Cats,” “Chicago,” “Dark Hoedown,” and “Great American Trailer Park Musical.”
This is our second “Salute to Broadway” revue, and we are also planning “Legends of Music V” in August.
